To The Rescue

Today my life was saved by trusty old Saba. Not even kidding.
I'm starting a new job in a week and a half so I had to go shopping for some appropriate work attire. I kinda dread going to Westfields at the best of times because I find it really un-inspiring to see the same stuff everywhere but with limited time left and maximum garments needed, I didn't have a choice.
My high hopes of finding a whole new work wardrobe quickly dashed when I found things I liked but nothing fit properly. Massive shopping fail.
I was having no luck at all and was considering giving up shopping period but then, as my confidence in Westfields hit an all time low, a shining beacon of hope came in the form of Saba. Trusty, cool, classic, Saba. My luck turned around when I found a complete suit (jacket, pants AND skirt) that fit perfectly.
Anndd it was on sale, plus an extra 20% was taken of for becoming a member. I was so happy I had to refrain from making out with the shop assistant. Then my new-found good luck continued when I purchased a cute pair of black loafers from Wittner.
I can't wait to rock my new corporate look (all thanks to Westfields I might add) in a couple of weeks.
New clothes make me so happy.

Stalker

I love people watching. I really do. I look like the biggest stalker just watching people go about their lives. I find it so fascinating to observe how people interact and see the differences in people's body languages and personal style.
Because what actually defines style? For me, style is an attitude; a confidence.
The great Yves Saint Laurent was quoted as saying:
'Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it'.
So true YSL!
Street style blogs have got to be my favourite because they celebrate individuality and showcase the beauty and confidence of their subjects. Being photographed by someone like The Satorialist is on my to-do list. Need to up-the-ante on the stalking if I'm going to tick that one off the list!!

Instalove

Ok so I know I'm super slow on the uptake with this little trend but I am seriously loving Instagram at the moment!! I love that it's a cute little photo blog for everyone, whether it's your own photos you've taken or other peoples photos that you find inspiring. For all the aspiring photographers out there, the different filters are fun to play with but I haven't yet mastered them. I'm too busy following peoples profiles and liking their photos!
You can follow me deonie_cowper and keep up with my Instagram progress.

Paws for Thought

Had an awesome day today with my friend Jess and her gorgeous niece Sienna at the RSPCA Million Paws Walk! Held in the Cathy Freeman Park in Homebush, it was so great to join the thousands of cute dogs and their enthusiastic owners to proudly walk the 4.6km route to raise much needed funds for the RSPCA.
I've always loved pretending to be a dog owner because I looove dogs and unfortunately never had the chance to own my very own puppy. After today I think I'll be adopting an abandoned or unwanted dog from the RSPCA. So many animals are in need of loving homes so I'd love to provide one.

Style

Last night another special fashion event was held in Sydney. More than 300 people turned up in their 'Tuesday Best' to be a part of the fourth annual Instyle and Audi Women of Style Awards. The event recognises and celebrates the outstanding achievement of successful Australian women in nine different categories, including Fashion, Beauty, Environment, Charity/Community Arts/Culture, Business, Design, Lifestyle and News/Entertainment.

A big congratulations goes out to (my fav) Miranda for winning the award for
Australia's Most Stylish Woman
as voted by the readers. This recognition comes as no surprise to me as I think she is flawless in her style choices and carries herself with grace and confidence in everything she does. Her baby blue Carla Zampatti gown looked beyond amazing on her and I thought her no-fuss pony tail and fresh make-up completed the look perfectly.

When asked what her definition of style is, Miranda answered 'It's something that comes from the inside. It's an inner confidence and it doesn't matter what you're wearing, you will come across as stylish if you're feeling good'. Here here! I believe inner beauty and inner confidence radiates to those around us. Miranda regards her Nan as a stylish woman she looks up to. It just so happened that her lovely Nan and beautiful mother Therese were there supporting her last night and they looked so stunning together.

Another style mention has to go to the amazing Sally Obermeder who presented Miranda with the top award. Sally is more than an inspiration to women, she's an angel. To see her and hear her story just makes you realise how precious life is and how important it is to stay positive and strong, even in the darkest of times. My thoughts and well-wishes go out to Sally and her family.
